When in Doubt - Don’t Stall Out
Mark my words. You’ll read “Done is Better than Perfect,” agree with the principle, but the minute the context exists where you need to apply it, you’ll begin to falter and risk not following through.
I can sympathize, I’m there on multiple occasions too! You’re worried that completion might cost you some credibility if the output isn’t good. You’re worried that something else should receive your attention, and spending time to complete something that isn’t “perfect” is a waste. Or you just generally feel like you want to give up… but here’s the deal… I don’t think any of that goes away with success.
This past year for Toil+Profit we’ve had…
- An article reposted by Canon Press
- An article interacted with by Better Wealth / Caleb Guilliams
- An article reposted by Cost of Glory / Alex Petkas… and a follow-back!
- A subscription partnership form with Investing with Brandon… you should check out his newsletter via the recommendation page HERE
- Subscribers double
With those sweet milestones I STILL hesitate some weeks, and worry that completing an individual issue of the newsletter just doesn’t matter… But “Done is Better than Perfect” is what has gotten Toil+Profit thus far, and so the faithful toiling continues, and so should you!
When in Doubt - Don’t Stall Out! Know that completing whatever “rep” you are on DOES truly matter. Even if it doesn’t look the way you envision, you’re still stacking discipline in some way, and you can always iterate as the journey continues. You can’t iterate if the journey stops.
