What exactly… is… a “toil & profit”

• 💪 It’s the recognition of a natural law that rewards EFFORT and DISCIPLINE.

• 📈 It’s the realization that YOU ARE your GREATEST ASSET, and so you ought to invest heavily in yourself.

• 🙇‍♂️ It’s the acknowledgement that although the above statement is true… LIFE ISN’T ABOUT YOU. You just have an important role to play.

• 🔥 It’s the ZEAL to improve continuously, because there is a telos you are meant to strive towards, and it IMPACTS the people you care most about, and leaves a LEGACY.

Ultimately it’s a desire to honor God and love others, and the phrase caught my attention when I read the following…

In ALL TOIL there IS PROFIT! Yes, futility is a component of the curse that was brought into this world and it mucks the formula up from time-to-time (see Ecclesiastes and Job)… but that doesn’t upend the foundational reality that exists. You’re supposed to operate according to the Proverb, and embrace the result with gratitude.

We are meant to lean into the work around us and BELIEVE the RESULTS MATTER.

We are meant to grow in our abilities to toil more effectively and thereby profit from that work; and that result radiates outward.

Wherever you are, be ALL THERE!

I don’t know what you do… I don’t know what your particular strengths and giftings are… but I know that what you do matters to you, your family, your teams, and a community of others who are impacted by your efforts.

I also know that you’re not your best self yet… you’ve got room to grow… because we all do!

So it’s time to be equipped. If you make ONE positive change today then you reap the benefits for every consecutive day lived afterwards. Think about the power of regularly embracing continuous improvement… it’s exponential!

Be warned! It will be easy to FEEL like you’re doing something by simply cracking open this newsletter. But to read this alone would be the latter half of that aforementioned Proverb. Don’t let this newsletter be “mere talk.”

We’re not here for mere talk (seems odd coming from what is, by definition, a Newsletter… it’s just words). We’re here to APPLY & GROW!

And so we leave behind mere motivational monologue and head into purposeful pragmatism. I hope you are encouraged and ready to get after it!
