Stick to the Plan

Plan > Mood
Consistently in my own life, and as I’ve observed in reading high-level-achievers or seeing their interviews, the key to top-tier performance is having a commitment to various disciplines, and not being dissuaded by how you feel. Craft a plan, keep it simple, and when you don’t want to do it, or you feel like you can’t do it… STILL do it!
I don’t recall where I heard this, but I remember hearing a personal trainer talk about how when they made a routine with their clients, they gave the following provision: ‘Even if you think you have no time or no motivation to complete your workout for the day, you will at least drive to the gym and walk inside. You can walk inside and determine that you truly don’t have the time, and then leave, but you will at least do the first two steps.’ What that trainer found was that their clients got results because 9/10 times when they simply showed up, they followed through!
• Where do you need to make a plan?
• Where do you need to “simply show up?”

Bonus - When you make a plan, you then make something that you can tweak with continuous improvement, and begin to gradually make it easier and more effective. But if you had no plan, and put work into your goals based on mood, the iterations would be inconsistent, and your potency in those moments would suffer the same inconsistency as well.
Make a plan. Disregard mood. Show up!
